The Trustworthiness of our Medium and Exhibitors

Eductional Outreach 4MacGillivray Freeman’s films play in renowned museums and science centers around the world. The venue is critical when trying to share important messages about our natural world with a mission to educate and entertain:

  • "Almost 9 out of 10 Americans (87%) find museums to be one of the most trustworthy or a trustworthy source of information among a wide range of choices. Books are a distant second at 61%, and a majority of Americans finds print and broadcast media and the Internet to be not trustworthy."
    (American Association of Museums, 2001)
  • These destinations are among the top must-see events in the U.S.: “With 2.3 million museum visits per day – 850 million visits per year, more than all professional sporting events combined – museums remain one of America’s most popular attractions.”
    (American Association of Museums, 2008)
  • Educational Outreach 23"Research suggests that nearly half of the public's understanding of science derives from [the informal and free-choice learning] sector, which supports the on-going and continuous learning of all citizens."
(John H. Falk, Institute for Learning Innovation 2002)
  • Almost 75 percent of informal learning institutions provide programs, workshops, materials, or curricula support for K–12 science education in addition to one-day field trips. Each science institution serves 40 schools and eight districts.  Estimates are that these institutions serve 73,000 schools, or 62 percent of the total schools in the United States, directly or indirectly impacting 9,000 districts, 2 million teachers, and 36 million students.
