The IMAX 3D Theatre medium is the most immersive, influential and experiential film medium in the world.   Thanks in part to the rapid growth of digital 3D technologies and films for conventional cinema, there is heightened audience demand for 3D.  Per-screen grosses for 3D content, at both giant-screen and conventional theatres, outpace those for “2D.”  For recent Hollywood films released in both 3D and 2D, 40% of all box office revenues came from just 20% of the screens that were 3D-equipped.
